Bokaro RPF ups vigil to curb liquor smuggling
The railway protection force (RPF) in Bihar rolled out an operation called "Satark" on Monday to prevent smuggling of liquor to Bihar by conducting special raids on the trains bound for the neighboring state. The Bokaro unit of the RPF comes under the Adra railway division. Though the RPF conducts regular checks searches have been intensified from Monday after the Bihar Additional DGP railways sent a letter to the RPF to tighten its noose against the smugglers operating from here. "About half a dozen trains reach Bihar via Bokaro this month alone two accused were caught with liquor bottles from Biharbound trains on separate days in the past nine months. The Bokaro unit of the RPF seized 450 bottles of liquor of different brands worth lakhs of rupees most of the accused confessed that they were carrying liquor to Bihar. Many have even been caught from the AC bogies." Rajkumar Sao, the officer incharge of Bokaro RPF post said "Probe has revealed that people involved in the illegal trade of liquor in Bihar send their henchmen to buy bottles of Indian made foreign liquor from Tulin in Purulia district of West Bengal.
