Brazil's Lula da Silva says Brics not meant to challenge G7, US
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said that the BRICS group of emerging countries is not intended to challenge other international coalitions, but rather to organize the Global South. Lula also expressed support for a common trading currency for BRICS countries and stated that he wants BRICS to be a multilateral institution. He added that he is particularly in favor of Argentina joining the group. Over 40 countries have expressed interest in joining BRICS.
