S. Korean coastguard arrests man who arrived by jet ski from China
A Chinese national was arrested by the South Korean coastguard after he attempted to enter the country on a jet ski from China. The man, identified as Chinese rights activist Kwon Pyong, used binoculars and a compass to navigate across the Yellow Sea, towing five barrels of fuel. When his jet ski got stuck, he called for rescue. While authorities found no evidence of espionage, Kwon's crossing was seen as a result of Chinese political persecution. He is now considering applying for refugee status in South Korea or another country.
